Stand By Me is a beautiful coming of age story which sees a group of young boys, Gordie, Chris, Teddy and Vern who decide to hike to find the corpse of Ray Brower, a local teenager, who was hit by a train while plucking blueberries in the wild. Written by the incomparable Stephen King, this tale is one of humour, tragedy, heart ache and relatability. We see these children go on a true journey of self discovery and overcome issues within their lives. We see these four friends

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) is not usually the first Indiana Jone’s movie people think of but to me, this is by far the only Indiana Jone’s movie I picture when I hear the that name. Harrison Ford alongside Sean Connery brings some of the best one liners to the franchise and some of my favourite moments between the pair. In 1912, a teenage Indiana Jones discovers a group of robbers finding a crucifix owned by Coronado while exploring caves with his Boy Scout tr

My Initial Thoughts When I first watched Don’t Look Up (2021) it was on New Years Day, I can confidently say it was the wrong film choice to start off the new year. My initial thoughts were that the movie was overtly high brow, condescending and heavy handed. I thought it was a clunky attempt at sending an important message and lost all its credibility. Although, in saying that, after revisiting the film I can confidently say my opinions have changed. I was able to approach t

Encanto (2021) is a beautifully vibrant and bold Disney movie with unforgettable musical renditions from the highly acclaimed Lin Manuel Miranda. Encanto showcases a broad sense of reality and inclusivity, giving us some of the relatable and diverse characters we’ve seen from Disney in a long time. The primary reason this movie belongs on my top 100 list is the music, the music throughout this film is like a virus. Once you catch it you can’t let it go, it overpowers you with

9 to 5 (1980) is one of those unsung comedy heroes, a true shining star for female comedy actors looking to learn from some of the best. Tomlin, Parton and Fonda absolutely nail their roles within this feature and bring some of the most hilarious comedic acting from that decade. When I originally watched this film I had no idea for the plot or overall narrative, going into this film completely blind was such a gift because of the pure shock and excitement I felt when the narr

Oh how I wish the future was the way the film represented it, how cool would it have been if we had flying cars, self tying shoes and hover boards? After watching Back to the Future (1985) as a child I fell absolutely in love with the story, a true depiction of cinema having no bounds or restrictions. Time travel represented in its finest way, through comedy and fantastic storytelling. Back to the Future (1985) is timeless, every time I think about this film it brings a smile

Did you know Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks! only made 1 million at the box office? Did you know it was considered a flop and got incredibly mixed reviews from critics at the time? Neither did I and I am absolutely shocked after learning this. Mars Attacks! is a uniquely devised Burton classic which incorporates some of his better know techniques and displays his quirky approach to filmmaking. I remember seeing Mars Attacks! for the fist time and being completely blown away by the

They simply don’t make films like this anymore, we no longer have stars like Judy Garland and practical affects are slowly being pushed off our screens. The Wizard of Oz is one of the most mystical, magical movie to have ever been created. A true monument of cinema and a true depiction and living proof of how unique and groundbreaking movies can be. In this classic musical fantasy, Judy Garland stars as Dorothy Gale, a young Kansas farm girl who dreams of a land somewhere ove

Coco is a beautifully crafted piece of storytelling, emotional, nostalgic and sentimental.
