If you find it funny when a young boy says ‘fuck’ a lot then this movie is going to be your favourite. Good Boys (2019) is an adventure comedy following a young boy Max who is 12 years old has the chance to kiss his crush at a party. He works out a plan with his best friends to learn how to kiss before embarrassing himself. The plot is incredibly basic but in all honesty this film isn’t about the story it’s about the characters. Max, Thor and Lucas are adorably casted and do

If you poured Rick & Morty, Robot Chicken and Family Guy into a blender the concoction you’d be left with is Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K! This stop start animation is a middle ground between adult humour and marvel magic, combining crude language with the likes of iron man and other superheroes is simply genius and made for the specific enjoyment of adults. M.O.D.O.K is voiced by the iconic Patton Oswalt, this series follows the villains story; While pursuing his dream of conquering t

Staring Sam L Jackson as the new John Shaft, this modern take on a classic 1971 tv series is witty and charming. Although the narrative is neither here nor there the acting and casting is perfect and I had a good time whilst watching. This film is nostalgic and brings a lot of fun references from the original. Here’s a breakdown of the narrative: John Shaft Jr may be an FBI cyber security expert, but to uncover the truth behind his best friend's untimely death, he needs an ed

I come back to this movie time and time again yet each time it engages me and surprises me. Marriage Story is a poetic storytelling of the ups and downs relationships and ultimately the battle of divorce. Marriage Story stars two of my all time most beloved actors, Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson, two power house actors who perform beautifully together as a team. Both performances are complimentary of and other and both actors have perfect chemistry together. I couldn’t as

This explosion of family fun is bold and captivating from the beginning, this animated adventure movie is all about family... but also saving the world. Basically the story follows The Mitchell’s, a dysfunctional family who embark on a road trip which is upended when they find themselves in the middle of the robot apocalypse and suddenly become humanity's unlikeliest last hope. This is a quirky adventure comedy that is pleasantly surprising. I thought the story was pretty int

This post is written by a fan of both Marvel and DC comics, it is coming from a place of love and not malice. I simply wanted to compare the two powerhouse teams from both companies and try to come to a conclusion, what team is better? After the recent release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021) I cannot help but see similarities in the plot to The Avengers (2012-2019) movies. So, let’s dive into the nail biting question of who is better, The Avengers or The Justice League

We should all be aware of the heartbreaking story behind ‘It’s a wonderful life’ as we embark on the beautifully tragic tale of George Bailey, a man at his breaking point, a man with nothing else to live for. The poignant story of a son, father and husband wanting to end their life is all the more upsetting when it is because of the pressures of Christmas, which is why this film resonates with its audiences, it is truly relatable to a certain degree. Everyone can understand t

Who knew something so short could be so impactful, this Netflix animated short film is only twelve minutes long with no dialogue but it speaks volumes. This short story sees grieving parents struggling to come to terms with loosing their daughter in a school shooting. The film is incredibly moving and brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it, essentially the animated short is heavily based on the tragic Florida school shooting from 2018. I wanted to share a relatively s

Let’s hope I don’t want to walk out of the cinema this time around. Luckily, the new ‘The Suicide Squad’ (2021) has an incredible director on their side and a brand new slate… almost. New slate or not I will still be comparing this movie to the previous 2016 version, in my eyes they are making this movie to reinvent the franchise and almost redeem themselves and I truly hope they do. The Suicide Squad has been a group of super-villains in the DC universe since 1959, brought t

Upcoming Elvis Presley biopic to be released in 2021. Does Film Probe

Horror movies would never be as impactful or special without the actors that star in them. Just think of your favourite horror film and try to imagine someone else in the main role, it is impossible. When I think of horror actors my mind jumps straight to the original horror icons, Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolf man, The invisible man and even the Phantom of the Opera. All of these icons would be forgotten if it weren’t for the magnificent faces behind the masks that bring these

Stephen King, Alfred Hitchcock, Wes Craven, John Carpenter, David Cronenberg, Tobe Hooper and George A. Romero are all names that spring to mind when I hear the word horror. We watch countless movies and read countless books but we forget to appreciate the masterminds behind these stories and the ones who bring them to life. This is without even considering the actors who bring these stories and beloved characters to life… but that’s for next week. Specifically, in this blog
