For any Richard Linklater fans (Boyhood, Before Sunrise, Hit Man), this may be a perfect hidden gem recommendation for you. Tape (2001) is a film which has received plenty of negativity over the years, it is an undeniably strange film with bad camera quality and traps its characters inside one room.
Three childhood friends meet in a Michigan hotel room and recollect the painful memories of their high school time.
It is a film which will play on your mind but I recommend it mostly to those who want to expand your Linklater knowledge and see Ethan Hawke in easily one of his most incredible performances to date alongside Robert Sean Leonard and Uma Thurman.
It’s tense and I hope it will surprise you.
