Friends: The Reunion (2021)

‘The One Where They Get Back Together’. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, the iconic 90s sit-com friends is gracing our screens for one special come back episode more than a decade after it ended. The friends cast have each announced a reunion episode that we have all been begging them for for years! I personally am I massive friends fan and I cannot wait to see what special moments and cameos we will get to see. Although I’m paralysed with excitement I have my concerns for this special episode and I thought I’d discuss a few here!

Firstly, I get the impression this episode is going to be an actors reunion rather than a character reunion, meaning we’ll see the cast reminisce about their time on the show rather than a future storyline of where the characters are now. Which personally is a little disappointing, I want to see what Rachel and Ross are doing and how Monica and Chandler are getting on in the suburbs! Nonetheless, the cast have only met up as a whole twice since the show ended in 2004! Which makes this meet up pretty damn special.

The reunion drops on HBO Max on Thursday, May 27.

I think my primary doubts come from the additional celebrity guest appearances that have been announced. Luckily cameos and regulars from the original show will be featured like Gunther, Richard Burke, (Tom Selleck) Janice (Maggie Wheeler) and Jill Greene (Reese Witherspoon). But the added slew of ‘celebs’ almost makes the show seem gimmicky, the list includes; David Beckham, Justin Bieber, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Kit Harrington and more. Hmmmm, this just seems so random and non organic to me ? Anyone else feel as though the guest stars ruin the hype of having the cast back together?

Nonetheless, I am incredibly excited to see this reunion and in all honesty maybe my expectations are a little too high? I want all the answers, I want all the updates and I want all the gossip! Could I BE anymore excited ??
