Weapons (2025) is a film littered with meaning, although it may appear to be a supernatural horror film I believe it to be hiding so much more under the surface. Told through a non-linear narrative from the perspective of five characters, Weapons (2025) wastes no time when introducing us to the plot. We are catapulted into the chaos as a child narrator throws us into the mystery, where have the children gone and who is the blame?

Weapons (2025) is a thrilling, unpredictable, eerie horror film which will leave you begging for more. Zach Cregger further proves his passion for horror and his skill for thrill.

Weapons (2025) is a film about trauma and how it manifests itself, it is an individual experience and we get to watch through the eyes of the victims. I was blown away by the intelligent camera work and genius use of POV shots and static camera movements. Zach left the audience helpless, using every element of horror at his disposal he utilised typical horror tropes for the best and most memorable scares.

This film made me anxious, it kept the story a mystery until the very end. The audience is left to wonder and given a chance to be swept up in the confusion and question of what happened to those children, at no point did a find the film predictable or unoriginal. Instead, I was engaged throughout and hanging on the edge of my seat.

I think, if anything, a negative elements to this film was the open ended conclusion. I wanted to explore the after math, I wanted to know more but I think rather than a negative that is a positive. Zach was able to create a world that I wanted to see more of, I wanted more answers and that is a credit to his genius writing and sense of world building.

Justine, the teacher, the one to blame. She was a simple character, a tortured soul who I was drawn to. I found her performance to be effortless and intriguing.

Archer, a father determined to hunt down his son and Andrew, the venerable head teacher. Both were performed perfectly, particularly Brolin as Archer. I found his character to be strong and acted as a tether to reality, he acted with realism and I loved his determination and dedication to finding his son.

Zach Cregger is a filmmaker and storyteller who is responsible for the resurgence of horror, along with a handful of other visionary filmmakers like Ari Aster, Robert Eggers, Ryan Coogler, Oz Perkins, Jordan Peele and Carolie Fargaret! Weapons (2025) is part of a current sea of captivating, unique and utterly unforgettable horror films. Weapons (2025) is a captivating horror film, it has jump scares, creepy imagery and mesmerising visuals. As a whole, this film is very exciting, it is an example of great storytelling and original ideas coming to life on screen.
