Which is the best Harry Potter movie? The Chamber of Secrets (2002) | Review #65

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) is the second instalment in the world renowned Harry Potter franchise, The story follows Harry's second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where the Heir of Salazar Slytherin opens the Chamber of Secrets. Harry Potter is a nostalgic and comforting franchise to return to as an adult, the characters are whimsical and the stories are always magical and compelling. This second movie has to be my personal favourite and for very good reason, primarily nostalgia. The Chamber of Secrets was one of the most terrifying movies I’d ever seen as a kid, the ominous story of the Chamber of Secrets being opened and letting something out was absolutely nightmare inducing.

The Chamber of Secrets ignited my deep love for Harry Potter and all things fantasy, this movie has the best monster and of course it reveals the backstory to one of the most iconic villains of all time, Voldemort. During this movie the franchise finds its footing, we get to see some of the most memorable characters and moments all from this one feature. Being petrified, the basilisk, Tom Riddle, Dobby but my personal favourite, Ron using his broken wand and making himself eat slugs! A brilliantly nostalgic and beautifully British movie that will stay in my heart forever.
