An American nun embarks on a new journey when she joins a remote convent in the Italian countryside. However, her warm welcome quickly turns into a living nightmare when she discovers her new home harbours a sinister secret and unspeakable horrors.
A daringly enigmatic thriller staring up and coming star, Sydney Sweeney in the title role. Immaculate (2024) is a slow paced, quietly suspenseful thriller that is reminiscent of The Good Omen (2024). A story which follows the nurture of the Devine soul, the creation of the next generation and the idea of playing god.. with a lot of blood, haha!
Through intense lighting techniques the atmosphere of this film was something I admired most, the lighting helped to create a handful of jump scares which complimented the performance.
Immaculate (2024) waiting until its final part to truly engage me, the whole film was a gradual build of story, tension and motive for it all to come crashing down in the conclusion. The film had an incredible climax and an ending which was nail biting and utterly tense to watch unfold. Sydney Sweeney proves she can act pain and was able to carry the character from beginning to end in a beautifully heroic way.
