Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026)
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026)

Absolutely bloody brilliant, if you’re familiar with the first ‘Ready or Not’ film then you’ll be happy to hear this sequel starts right where we left off, with Grace lighting a cigarette after fearlessly fighting her cult crazy in-laws. Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026) balances the intense gore and grizzly deaths with perfect dark humour and action. This is how you successfully execute a horror sequel, elevating the elements that worked well in the original, adding recognisable talent to the cast and expanding the world.

I am a major fan of anything with a sisterhood bond at the centre, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026) introduces us to Grace’s estranged younger sister, Faith. The pair find themselves thrown into a series of unfortunate events following Grace’s  chaotic wedding day. Their relationship, though strained, is the centre of the madness and their bond grows with each cult member they fight. The Ready or Not franchise has extremely strong themes of violence, death and satanic worship and personally, I love anything that is prepared to shock me, thrill me and make me laugh whilst doing so.

Samara Weaving is an undeniable scream queen, her performance in this franchise is spine chilling, her animalistic screams in agony, her helpless cries and instinctive, believable fight scenes all lead me to believe she is an unstoppable horror actress. She carried the first Ready or Not feature and honestly, she carried this one too. Although this time she was accompanied by some worthy competition, Kathryn Newton, another scream queen brought a cocky, light hearted vibe to her role alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar who is arguably the most seasoned horror queen of them all. Although her role was reasonably small, Sarah Michelle Gellar is magnetic on screen, composed and effortlessly likeable, especially when she’s driving a stake into her competition!

Also the likes of Elijah Wood, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell and THE David Cronenberg all brought a level of campy comedy to their roles. Overall, the cast were extremely strong and a film of this nature needs that star power to keep engagement and Ready or Not 2 succeeded. In moments when the pacing slowed the actors were able to effortlessly fill the gaps with charm and ease.

Overall, as a genuine fan of the original film and Samara Weaving in particular, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026) was able to successfully build upon the original story. The Ready Or Not franchise consists of compelling character development, jarring and problematic moments all centred around the concept of control, power and causal satanic worship? What more could you ask for?!

If you are a fan of the original, I have no doubt this film will exceed all of your expectations but if you’re yet to see the original film now you get to treat yourself to both films. Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come (2026) plays with classic horror themes of hunting the final girl, dark worship, creative deaths and lots and lots of gore. If you have a sensitive stomach, this film really pushes the boundaries of practical and special effects with the blood.
