A deeply meaningful and emotional feature that experiments with themes of loss, guilt and family.
A film which heavily relies on the performances from its lead cast, His Three Daughters (2024) could have been an uneventful display of grief but instead it was a chance to showcase three incredible actresses and their distinct character journeys and their acting abilities.
His Three Daughters (2024) takes the audience through a slow paced, linear story of handling the inevitable. Being able to face reality and understand what needs to be done, this film experiments with the different emotions one takes when you loose someone close to you. The three sisters each take a different approach to their fathers soon to be passing and that is the most powerful takeaway from this film; not everyone handles their grief in the same way.
His Three Daughters (2024). [Film] Directed by Azazel Jacobs. High Frequency Entertainment.
His Three Daughters (2024) had a gradual progression, the film begins at the most poignant moment for the characters and we slowly see their true emotions and feelings towards one another come out.
This style of feature isn’t usually something I enjoy but I was drawn in by the actors, aside from their moving performances something I appreciated was the setting. Placing these three big personalities into a cramped, small space for the whole duration of the film was genius. You can feel the tension getting more dense and the space feeling smaller as they begin to aggravate each other. This is a moving piece of cinema, it is not cinematic or thrilling it is simplistic and emotionally charged.
